Mandate Among other issues, the CLDTDR deals with human rights, including the rights of women. The CSPASSN, meanwhile, is concerned with all matters pertaining to the status of women, children and the family.
Membership Each Committee has 30 members, selected on a proportional basis from candidates nominated by the administratively established groups. Proposals by deputies not registered with a parliamentary group are taken into account. The term of membership is five years.<br>Composition by sex:<p>CLDTDR: 27 men (90%), 3 women (10%).<p>CSPASSN: 15 men (50%), 15 women (50%).
Working methods The Committees meet in accordance with a work programme established by the Conference of Committee Chairs, set up to consider formal proposals or draft legislation. Meetings are closed. The Committees can hold hearings to question members of the government.
Relations with other parliamentary bodies The Committees can meet jointly, and even with other committees, to consider matters of common interest.
